Reference Genome Article

The Genome of the Kinetoplastid Parasite, Leishmania major (Reference Genome)

This article was found via the PubMed database and the key terms used were "Leishmania Major [MeSH Terms] AND Genome [Title]"
This search resulted in 30 articles, about 5 seemed relevant but this one was the first which had the entire genome
Citation for paper:

Microarray Articles

  1. Modulation of gene expression in drug resistant Leishmania is associated with gene amplification, gene deletion and chromosome aneuploidy.
    • I typed in "Leishmania Major" in the organism field and "Array assay" in the technology field and filtered down my results.
    • There were 11 results, 4 seemed relevant
    • Jean-Michel Ubeda, Danielle Légaré, Frédéric Raymond, Amin Ahmed Ouameur, Sébastien Boisvert, Philippe Rigault, Jacques Corbeil, Michel J Tremblay, Martin Olivier, Barbara Papadopoulou and Marc Ouellette. 2. Expression between Species and in Different Host Genetic Backgrounds
Expression profiling using random genomic DNA microarrays identifies differentially expressed genes associated with three major developmental stages of the protozoan parasite Leishmania major
  3. Genome-wide gene expression profiling analysis of Leishmania major and Leishmania infantum developmental stages reveals substantial differences between the two species.
    • I typed in "Leishmania Major" in the organism field and "Array assay" in the technology field and filtered down my results.
    • There were 11 results, 4 seemed relevant
    • Rochette, Annie et. al. 2008 May 29.Genome-wide gene expression profiling analysis of Leishmania major and Leishmania infantum developmental stages reveals substantial differences between the two species. BMC Genomics, 9:255.
  4. Comparative genomic analysis of three Leishmania species that cause diverse human disease
This article was found using PubMed as well, I searched genome and the species name and found this one especuially interesting because it analyzed the human disease capabilities of the parasite.
  5. Comparative Expression Profiling of Leishmania: Modulation in Gene Expression between Species and in Different Host Genetic Backgrounds
    • Opened browser and navigated to Array Express
    • Clicked Experiments tab on Array Express home page
    • Searched for "Leishmania major" in organism tab and "All Arrays" in the arrays tab and "Array assay" by experiment type
    • This search yielded nine results
    • Approximately half seemed relevant
  6. Putting the Leishmania genome to work: functional genomics by transposon trapping and expression profiling - direct link:http://rstb.royalsocietypublishing.org/content/357/1417/47.full.pdf+html
This article was found using Web of Knowledge. I found this paper interesting as well because it also looked at the genome and which part may be involved in causing disease. I am not sure if the data will be accessible though.
