It first became familiar during my junior year of high school when I participated in several science fairs. From there, this skill was strengthen by the amounts of experiments that were done at the university. It is a great skill to master when trying to find some sort of significant different in a data (for example). The second core competency is the Data Visualization. Once again, this ties with the ideas of the first core. It was gained through high school experiments and strengthened over time.

- I believe I am most familiar and skilled with the ideas of Data Visualization and the Ethics of data usage. The idea of data visualization is something that I am very familiar with. Not only have my years in studying biology shown me how important it can be to have a visual component for information, but it has also taught that at times seeing data in different visual formats allows the view to get different information from each type of visualization, this results in a more complete understanding of the data. I am also very familiar with the Ethics behind citation of data, the use of other peoples work with out giving credit is a unethical action. LMU has engrained the idea that we should always give credit where credit is due. No ones work should be used without permission, it is their intellectual property.

 #*I am most skilled with Data Analysis. I like to look at data from an experiment or from a database and interpret the results. It is fascinating to see where there is an overlap in the data, even more fascinating when it is my own data. I have gained the skills from looking at data from experiments that I would do even from when I was younger and was able to improve upon them when I came to college. I would also say that I am familiar with Data Visualization, but I am not good at coming up with the visual myself. I have become familiar with it from working my on-campus job but never have been able to think of the idea myself.
