- I do have some favorites. I use the first book of the Beggars in Spain trilogy in my classes. It's about genetically modified people who don't need to sleep. I also recommend The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell. It's about Jesuits in space! More recently I've enjoyed the Three Body Problem by Cixin Liu, which is also a trilogy and The Fifth Season by JK Jemison, also a trilogy.
