Feedback on Week 1 Assignment
I am posting the feedback on your Week 1 assignment here.
- Thank you for submitting your assignment on time.
- All of the items listed in the assignment were completed except for the following items noted below. You have the opportunity to make up the points you lost on your assignment by making the requested changes by the Week 3 assignment deadline.
- You only used your username for your e-mail address; I wasn't sure if this was by design or not.
- When you report the dates of your jobs, it is customary to say "to present" instead of "to now".
- You wrote something in the summary field 35 out of 49 times (71%). This is pretty good, but we are aiming for 100% of the time. You have an appropriate number of saves for the length of the assignment.
- Your page is missing a link to an external web page.
- You created and invoked your template. But you have unnecessary subpages. Make the list of individual journal links directly on the template page, not on a subpage. Ditto for the shared journals. Let me know if you need further clarification.
- In the reference section, show the direct URL to the Week 1 page, not to the Main Page in your citation
- I grew up in Orange near Disneyland and remember visiting the Disneyland Hotel before California Adventure was built and it became Disneyland "Resort"!

Feedback on Week 5 Database Page
I am posting feedback on your Week 5 Database page here.
- Thank you for submitting your assignment on time. The zip file was added late, but I'm not sure why because the PDF file was already there.
- You completed all of the requested items except for the following:
- When creating a link to download a file, please use the syntax [[Media:filename | visible label]] instead of [[File:filename | visible label]]. The latter does not create a direct download link, but takes you to a secondary page.
- The RNact database is a public database. A private database would have some kind of restricted access and the RNact database is open to anyone with a web browser.
- How often is the database updated and when was the last update?
- Were the file formats that you could download the data in considered standard or nonstandard?
- Did the database have a help file or tutorial?
- Your citation hyperlinks were nicely integrated with your answers to the questions.
- Your reference to the RNact database website is not quite following APA format. Also, you need to cite the actual paper from Nucleic Acids Research.
- Let's keep in mind your interest in discovery and acquisition of data and data preservation going forward as we progress to the final research project in the class. The Week 7 assignment will touch on this a little, too.

Week 1 Redux
- You made all of the requested changes to your Week 1 assignment.
- In the period from September 12 to 19, you made 70 edits to the wiki and wrote something in the summary field 100% of the time! Keep up the good work!

Week 8 Interim Feedback
- I checked your Excel workbook, submitted for the Week 8 interim deadline and all of your calculations are correct. Good work!
- You have both a zipped and unzipped file linked on your page, which is a little confusing. The zipped one seems to be the raw data before calculations, but both of the links say "update". The idea is that we keep one filename and upload successive versions to the wiki. The wiki will keep all old versions of files so if we need to retrieve a previous version we can.
