Learning Access for Office 365

Purpose

Purpose: This assignment is meant to introduce us to Microsoft Access and relational databases. The Linkedin Learning lesson, Learning Access for Office 365, is meant to introduce us to Access, why it would be used, and its capabilities.

Methods

In Learning Access for Office 365, we learned the basics of Access, including some of the reasons why someone would prefer a database to spreadsheets. These reasons boil down to needing a relational database that allows for what are essentially spreadsheets to be in communication with each other. We were walked through using Access database preset templates and the basic functions for adding data entries and then shown how to create an Access database from the ground up. We were taught how to import data from Excel sheets and how to make forms for more data entry needs. Certificate here.

Conclusion

Learning Access for Office 365 provided an introduction to Access and relational databases. We now know that relational databases are more powerful than spreadsheets alone, and how to connect data tables using Access, from either preset or new databases.
