Electronic Lab Notebook
For this week, methods and zip file were uploaded.
Purpose

Methods
Part A
- Make sure to use a Windows 10 operating systems
- Click on the Microsoft home button or search bar and type File Explorer Options
- When window opens, look at the three tabs and click on View
- In advanced settings, uncheck Hide extensions for known file types
- Click OK when done
Part B
- Open Google Chrome
- On top right corner, click on the three dots menu
- Click on Settings
- On left side of page, click on Downloads located under Advanced
- Under Downloads, click Change button and change location to T:drive
- Click OK once done
Part C
- Go to the FDA Data Files website
- Under Download File section, download the Drugs@FDA Data Files ZIP
- Once downloaded, go to My Computer
- Go to T:drive and create a new folder
- Title it as FDA Drug Database
- Drag downloaded file to new folder
- On the downloaded file, right click and decompress the files
- When right clicking, click on Extract Here
- All of the files should appear
- Go to Microsoft Home Page or search bar and look for Microsoft Access
- It should be a red color icon
- Once opened, follow wizard and save file to T:drive
- On top of page, click on the External Data Tool tab
- On left side, click on Txt Files
- Remember left side is to import files and right side is to export files
- Once new window opens, click on T:drive and click on one of the data files that were decompressed
- Click Next and keep first setting about import
- Click Next again and file information will preview
- On top, check box that makes first row the field names
- Click Next until PRIMARY KEY section appears
- Change to Choose Primary Key or No Primary Key
- The primary key numbers the file. If it has one, then use the one that it contains
- Most of time the No Primary Key would be the best option
- Click Next and make sure title of file stays the same
- Click Finish
- Data should appear in the blank sheet
- If the file's name is attached with ERRORS, go to the Errors one and see what is coming up
- Once errors file is opened and user knows what to look at repeat Part C until reaching the section with Long Integer
- Click on column (in the preview) that is causing issue
- It will change to a shade of black when clicked
- On the drop down menu, change it to Short Time
- Continue Part C as normal and ERRORS file shouldn't appear anymore
- Delete ERRORS file when fixed
- Repeat all of Part C until all of the files are in Microsoft Access
Part D
- Once files are in, click on Create tab
- Query 1 would appear and add files that are needed
- Drag one of the file's info to the other one (that have same field names)
- A line will connect them
- Drag one of the field names to the bottom of the screen
- Click Finish and new query will be created under Query 1
