Methods

Part A

  • Make sure to use a Windows 10 operating systems
  • Click on the Microsoft home button or search bar and type File Explorer Options
  • When window opens, look at the three tabs and click on View
  • In advanced settings, uncheck Hide extensions for known file types
  • Click OK when done

Part B

  • Open Google Chrome
  • On top right corner, click on the three dots menu
  • Click on Settings
  • On left side of page, click on Downloads located under Advanced
  • Under Downloads, click Change button and change location to T:drive
  • Click OK once done

Part C

  • Go to the FDA Data Files website
  • Under Download File section, download the Drugs@FDA Data Files ZIP
  • Once downloaded, go to My Computer
  • On the downloaded file, right click and decompress the files
    • When right clicking, click on Extract Here
    • All of the files should appear
  • Go to Microsoft Home Page or search bar and look for Microsoft Access
    • It should be a red color icon
  • Once opened, follow wizard and save file to T:drive
  • On top of page, click on the External Data Tool tab
  • On left side, click on Txt Files
    • Remember left side is to import files and right side is to export files
  • Once new window opens, click on T:drive and click on one of the data files that were decompressed
